Easter Day 2009

Lord of all life and power, who through the mighty resurrection of your Son, overcame the old order of sin and death to make all things new in him: grant that we, being dead to sin, and alive to you in Jesus Christ, may reign with him in Glory; to whom with you and the Holy Spirit be praise and honour, glory and might, now and in all eternity. AMEN

Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed ALLELUIA!!

Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark......

It was dark because the clouds were heavy, and it was drizzling. But Arthur lit the bonfire, fuelled with the foliage of our Christmas Tree.

The fire was blessed + and the Cross on the Paschal Candle traced "Christ yesterday and today, the beginning and the end. Alpha and Omega, all things belong to him and all ages; to him be Glory and power, through every age and for ever. Amen and the 5 nails place into the candle By his Holy and Glorious wounds, may Christ our Lord guard and keep us, AMEN

We then processed into Church and proclaimed "The Light of Christ". All the lights in the Church were lit and we sang the first Gloria of Easter at the tops of our voices. We renewed our Baptismal vows and were sprinkled with Holy Water to remind us of our Baptism.

After the service there was time to enjoy the decorations in the church and a hearty breakfast!

The church was also decorated with the chalices and the Easter Garden that were made by the children in JC4Kidz

Breakfast time was an excellent social period and we thought that the disciples probably needed something like that on Easter Day!

Easter Day Eucharist

The 10.30am sung Eucharist was equally vibrant. Hearty singing in a packed Church

The rousing Easter Hymn "Thine be the Glory" was the final hymn

Christ is Risen! He is Risen indeed ALLELUIA!!
