Genesis Chapter 2; vv 18-24
18.The Lord God said, "It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
19.Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the air. He brought them to the man to see what
he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.
20.So the man gave names to all the livestock
1 Corinthians 13 v1–13
A reading from the first letter of Paul to the Corinthians.
1 If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am
a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all
knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have
love, I am nothing.
3 If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may
boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
4 Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or
rude.
5 It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
6 it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth.
7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things.
8 Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for
tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end.
9 For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part;
10 but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end.
11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned
like a child; when I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways.
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I
know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known.
13 And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these
is love.

Philippians 4 v4-9
4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.
5 Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near.
6 Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your
hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, beloved, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just,
whatever is pure,
whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if
there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
9 Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen
in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

1 John 3 v16-24
16 We know love by this, that the Son of God laid down his life for us
– and we ought to lay down our lives for one another.
17 How does God’s love abide in anyone who has the world’s goods and sees a
brother or sister in need and yet refuses help?
18 Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
19 And by this we will know that we are from the truth and will reassure our
hearts before him
20 whenever our hearts condemn us; for God is greater than our hearts, and he
knows everything.
21 Beloved, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have boldness before God;
22 and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commandments and
do what pleases God.
23 And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son
Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us.
24 All who obey his commandments abide in him, and he abides in them. And by
this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit that he has given us

Matthew 5 v1-10
1 When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain; and after he sat
down, his disciples came to him.
2 Then he began to speak, and taught them, saying: 3 ‘Blessed are the poor in
spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be
filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is
the kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 7 v21, 24-29
Jesus taught his disciples, saying:
21 ‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the
will of my Father in heaven.
24 Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a
wise man who built his house on rock.
25 The rain fell, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house,
but it did not fall, because it had been founded on rock.
26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be
like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
27 The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that
house, and it fell – and great was its fall!’
28 Now when Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were astounded at
his teaching,
29 for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.

Mark 10 v6-9, 13-16
6 But from the beginning of creation, “God made them male and female.”
7 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to
his wife,
8 and the two shall become one flesh.” So they are no longer two, but one
flesh.
9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.’
13 People were bringing little children to him in order that he might touch
them; and the disciples spoke sternly to them.
14 But when Jesus saw this, he was indignant and said to them, ‘Let the little
children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the
kingdom of God belongs.
15 Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little
child will never enter it.’
16 And he took them up in his arms, laid his hands on them, and blessed them.

St. John 2 v1-11
1 On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the
mother of Jesus was there.
2 Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
3 When the wine gave out, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’
4 And Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what concern is that to you and to me? My
hour has not yet come.’
5 His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’
6 Now standing there were six stone water-jars for the Jewish rites of
purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons.
7 Jesus said to them, ‘Fill the jars with water.’ And they filled them up to
the brim.
8 He said to them, ‘Now draw some out, and take it to the chief steward.’ So
they took it.
9 When the steward tasted the water that had become wine, and did not know where
it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the steward
called the bridegroom and said to him,
10 ‘Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the inferior wine after the
guests have become drunk. But you have kept the good wine until now.’
11 Jesus did this, the first of his signs, in Cana of Galilee, and revealed his
glory; and his disciples believed in him.

John 15 v1-8
Jesus said to his disciples:
1 ‘I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine-grower.
2 He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears
fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit.
3 You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you.
4 Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself
unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me.
5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear
much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing.
6 Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such
branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and
it will be done for you.
8 My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my
disciples.’

John 15 v9-17
Jesus said to his disciples:
9 ‘As the Father has loved me, so I have loved you; abide in my love.
10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept
my Father’s commandments and abide in his love.
11 I have said these things to you so that my joy may be in you, and that your
joy may be complete.
12 This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
13 No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s
friends.
14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.
15 I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what
the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to
you everything that I have heard from my Father.
16 You did not choose me but I chose you. And I appointed you to go and bear
fruit, fruit that will last,
so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.
17 I am giving you these commands so that you may love one another.’
